The America Business Forum 2024, held on October 18 in Punta del Este, brought together more than 5,000 leaders and public figures from Latin America under the slogan “Propulsion”. This marked the start of the forum’s final stage. This event has been a leading forum for business and innovation in the region, drawing businesspeople as well as political and cultural leaders.
The forum’s agenda included figures such as Francis Suarez, the mayor of Miami, who spoke about his city’s transformation into an epicenter of technology and sports; Santiago Peña, the president of Paraguay, who highlighted his country’s global positioning; and Uruguayan presidential candidates Yamandú Orsi and Álvaro Delgado, who shared their vision just a few days before the Uruguayan elections.
Major figures from the world of business and technology also took part, such as Natalia Scaliter, CEO of Google Cloud, and Carlos Lecueder, co-founder of World Trade Center Montevideo and WTC Montevideo Free Zone.
During the conference, Carlos Lecueder offered key insights into real estate development and business opportunities in Uruguay. He highlighted his role in creating the World Trade Center complex in Montevideo and mentioned the importance of free trade zones, an area in which he has been a pioneer.
He also presented the development of World Trade Center Punta del Este Free Zone. This is the first free trade zone for services in the department of Maldonado, a 26-story tower with LEED certification and an AAA international rating. It is a new business hub for the region.
In his speech, Mr Lecueder stressed how high-quality developments and free trade zones can attract foreign investment and how Uruguay is used as a strategic platform due to its democratic and legal stability. He also underscored Uruguay’s potential to keep continue to consolidate its position as a key point in attracting global business.
